Legalization of euthanasia is not up for consideration in India

Indian Minister of Health Ghulam Nabi Azad has recently stated that the Indian parliament has no plans to legalize any form of euthanasia or assisted suicide, including bringing about the death of a patient by withdrawing life-support treatments. According to the minister, Indian parliament is not in favour of promoting so-called death with dignity (British Medical Journal doi: 10.1136/bmj:f 5218. Published 23-8-2013).
