Abortion-free spaces in the USA. New legal authorisation to refuse to perform abortions

Lively controversy has been stirred up in the United States on whether religious institutions have the obligation to provide healthcare cover to their employees, if this cover implies actions contrary to their religious principles, or whether they can be abortion-free spaces. In relation to this, we published a similar resolution accepting the conscientious objection of a large Catholic hospital (Read HERE). Now, the Supreme Court of the United States has unanimously decided that the Government cannot penalise the Little Sisters of the Poor for refusing to perform abortions. According to Mark Rienzi, lead attorney for the Little Sisters, the legal resolution of this controversial matter is a huge victory for the Little Sisters, for religious freedom and for all Americans (Aciprensa, 17-V-2016).
