Become pregnant. Likelihood according to the woman’s age

In order to have a chance of at least 90% of having a one-child family, women should attempt to become pregnant when they are 35 years old or younger. If the couple want to have two children, they should try to conceive before the woman is 31 years old, or before age 28 if they want to have three.

When in vitro fertilisation is not an option, couples should start no later than age 32 (for the female partner) if they want to have a one-child family, at 27 years for a two-child family and at 23 for three (Realizing a desired family size: when should couples start?  (Human Reproduction 30; 2215-2221,2015).
