Through IBEP, multiple volumes of the Bibliography of Bioethics, an annual compilation of citations and abstracts to English-language literature, are donated to libraries abroad in order to encourage the development of bioethics reference resources in those countries. In turn, the IBEP is eager to collect documents about bioethics from the exchange participants. Any books, policy statements, periodicals and other materials about bioethical issues in the participant countries that are donated to IBEP will be added to the collection of the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature at Georgetown University. This project relies upon the support of the embassy of the respective country to ship the volumes. Alternatively, IBEP can ship the materials directly. However, rates for media bag shipments were dramatically increased by the United States Postal Service in May 2007. They no longer offer the surface media bag which took 6-8 weeks for delivery. The international airmail media bag cost of shipping 100 pounds of books to Africa, Asia, or Latin America starts at US$400. This method of shipping takes a little over two weeks to reach its destination. The average weight of our donation ranges from 100 to 150 pounds, thus the shipping cost will range from US$400 to US$600. Please contact us for details.
